📊 Easy
 Ingredients
- • 1 cup prepared yellow mustard
- • 1/2 cup honey
- • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- • 2 tbsp ketchup
- • 1 tbsp light brown sugar
- • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- • 1 tsp garlic powder
- • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (or more, to taste)
- • 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- 1 Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan.
- 2 Whisk everything together until smooth and well combined.
- 3 Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently.
- 4 Let the sauce simmer for 5-10 minutes to allow the sugar to dissolve completely and the flavors to combine. Do not let it boil.
- 5 Remove from heat and let it cool. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.
- 6 Store in a glass jar or airtight container in the refrigerator. For best results, let it sit for at least a few hours (or overnight) before using to allow the flavors to fully develop.
Tips & Notes
• Adjust cayenne pepper to your heat preference - start with less for milder flavor.
• The honey provides natural sweetness and helps balance the mustard's tang.
• Don't let the sauce boil as it can become bitter and lose its bright flavor.
• Store in the refrigerator for up to one month in an airtight container.
• Perfect for pulled pork, grilled chicken, and pork ribs - a South Carolina classic.
• Let the sauce rest overnight for the best flavor development.
• The vibrant golden color makes it visually striking on the plate.
